i have fond memories of helping my parents and grandparents make homemade ice cream. my parents had an electric ice cream maker and my grandparents had the hand crank model. after discovering that the one we had borrowed over a year ago had died, i went in search of a replacment. it was the last one of the season. the kids enjoyed hand cranking and watching the milky, sugary mixtures start to thicken. the nice thing about this model it that when you get tired of turning the crank, you attach the electric motor and let it finish the job. the best of both worlds.

jenna was persistent, she turned the crank for about a half hour.
