one of the distinct memories i have of my grandmother was helping her to decorate graves on memorial day. she would gather all the metal coffee cans she could find, wrap them in foil to make them pretty and then fill them with roses and peonies from her yard. now, it’s jenna’s turn to help. the vases are plastic from the dollar store and the flowers came from walmart, but the sentiment is still the same. she is at the age to ask lots of questions about the people whose graves we decorate, her grandmother, great grandparents, great, great grandparents and a cousin.
