i grew up here and sand creek was always a yucky, stagnant creek that no one wanted to go anywhere near. over the years the banks eroded away and there were places that were a dangerous drop off into the water. well, callan and i ventured out today to see the restoration of the banks and the bike path. it is beautiful. the paths are wide, there are benches to sit on and a boat ramp to launch small paddle boats. needless to say, we were thrilled to see a boy scout troop in their canoes preparing for a trip to the boundary waters. he was very disappointed when he could not throw on his life jacket and go with them. now we need to find a canoe so we can take advantage the calm water that is less than a mile from our house. so if you have a canoe that needs to be dusted off or know of somewhere we can rent one until we can get our own, let us know.
